[00:00:04] and I'm a holistic licensed therapist and nervous system coach who believes that the chronic and often unseen symptoms
[00:00:10] you're living with are a sign of something deeper going on. A sign that your nervous system needs attention. In each episode
[00:00:17] I'll share the science behind the most common chronic health disorders plus holistic health tips using mental, physical and spiritual practices.
[00:00:25] You'll hear what I've learned in my journey and the true stories from our trusted guests
[00:00:30] so you can feel less alone in your experience and give yourself grace no matter what you're going through.
[00:00:35] So without further ado, settle in and get cozy. It's time to Heal with Grace.
[00:00:40] Hey guys, welcome back to the Heal with Grace podcast.
[00:00:46] If you are watching me on YouTube, you're seeing me in a tank top.
[00:00:51] The sun is shining bright.
[00:00:54] It's three o'clock where I am and in the winter that means the sun was dark going down
[00:00:59] but right now it is high and it's bright and
[00:01:02] makes me so happy.
[00:01:04] Yeah, I'm just chilling and enjoying the warm spring weather.
[00:01:08] You know anything about me, you know that I moved to Colorado about a year and a half ago almost now
[00:01:13] and I saw I had my first full winter as a
[00:01:17] tried-and-true Texan who's lived in Texas her whole life and
[00:01:21] yeah, it wasn't bad, but you know, it was longer than I was really anticipating so it felt longer.
[00:01:29] So I'm like so, so loving the weather right now.
[00:01:33] Oh, it just makes me happy.
[00:01:35] You know, does weather change your mood?
[00:01:37] Totally changes mine.
[00:01:38] So anyway, that's where I am.
[00:01:41] And I'm really excited to talk with you today about the third podcast and our three-part series of healing
[00:01:50] and the series is the missing pieces of your healing.
[00:01:52] And these are three parts where I find that people don't fully understand it the most
[00:01:57] and that I need to clarify over and over and over again, which is not a bad thing.
[00:02:01] It's just because we don't understand it.
[00:02:03] So I really want to help you understand these three pieces.
[00:02:06] And this last but very much so not least one is about the subconscious reprogramming
[00:02:12] that we go through in healing mind and body.
[00:02:15] And I'm going to tell you exactly what that means.
[00:02:17] First and foremost, when we talk about mind, body, nervous system healing, a lot of times
[00:02:23] at the very beginning, you might just think that's like biggest nerve activation practices,
[00:02:27] some breath work, you know, slowing down, having some better routines and boundaries for yourself.
[00:02:33] And that is all wonderful, amazing.
[00:02:35] Keep doing it great.
[00:02:36] If you're in the beginning in your journey and you're doing all of that fantastic, keep doing it.
[00:02:41] But it's not the only way you're going to help yourself heal.
[00:02:46] So what's really going on underneath the nervous system is a lot of subconscious belief system.
[00:02:53] And today we're going to dive into what people don't often talk about when it comes to this.
[00:02:58] And it might just be a total game changer.
[00:03:00] It's truly how the subconscious mind shapes your body's healing.
[00:03:04] If you've ever thought like, I know what to do, so why can't I just do it?
[00:03:09] Or why do I keep looping in the same emotional patterns?
[00:03:13] Or why does my body freak out even when I know consciously you might know that you're safe and OK.
[00:03:21] But why the hell is your body sending you all these signals of danger and symptoms?
[00:03:26] If you have felt this way or thought these things every at any point,
[00:03:31] this episode is 1000% for you and is going to hit home because we're going deeper
[00:03:36] into the patterns beneath your patterns.
[00:03:39] And yes, we're talking about subconscious reprogramming.
[00:03:42] So it's not necessarily hypnosis.
[00:03:45] Like that's not required.
[00:03:46] That's not what I'm talking about.
[00:03:46] Although if that floats your boat, fantastic.
[00:03:49] Go for it's like somewhat in the same realm, but I am not a hypnosis expert.
[00:03:53] That's not what I'm talking about.
[00:03:54] I just had a few people ask me that question before, so I just want to put it out there.
[00:03:58] First and foremost, let's get real for a second.
[00:04:01] Most of what's driving your thoughts, your reactions, your symptoms
[00:04:05] is not coming from a conscious level, so we can't change it on a conscious level.
[00:04:10] Only about 10% of your mind, of your consciousness is conscious.
[00:04:14] The rest is unconscious and subconscious.
[00:04:17] And so much of what we do in our healing is bringing more of
[00:04:19] that subconscious to the conscious, but we still need to operate in that lower
[00:04:24] level of the unconscious.
[00:04:25] I've said that so many times in a one minute span, but we have to operate
[00:04:30] there in order to actually heal.
[00:04:33] So what is the subconscious?
[00:04:35] All right.
[00:04:36] So your subconscious is basically like your body's operating system.
[00:04:39] It's running scripts from childhood trauma, belief systems, cultural
[00:04:43] conditioning, even if your conscious mind knows better.
[00:04:48] Here's an example.
[00:04:49] You might know that rest is healing for your body, but if your subconscious
[00:04:56] believes that rest equals lazy, which equals unsafe, which equals failure,
[00:05:02] then your body will literally fight you every time you try to slow down.
[00:05:06] So if you've been stuck in patterns like pushing through pain or fatigue
[00:05:12] or spiraling into shame during a flare or feeling unsafe or unworthy in your body
[00:05:18] or feeling like you're totally out of control and you don't know what to do
[00:05:21] anymore, even though you've been trying all the things.
[00:05:24] It's not because you're broken.
[00:05:26] It's because your subconscious is still running old patterns.
[00:05:29] So what exactly do I mean by subconscious reprogramming?
[00:05:34] What I mean is that think about it as like we're kind of updating
[00:05:38] the software of your nervous system that it runs on.
[00:05:41] It's not about positive affirmations alone.
[00:05:44] That's not going to help you because that's coming from a conscious level.
[00:05:48] It's about creating safety on a bone, soul, deep level within your nervous
[00:05:53] system within your subconscious so that your system can be actually open to change.
[00:06:00] It's about identifying the hidden beliefs, driving your patterns, kind of
[00:06:04] like the ones that say, I don't deserve to feel good or I'm only lovable
[00:06:09] if I'm achievable or if I'm achieving.
[00:06:13] Those are the kind of beliefs that truly drive so much of your life, to be honest,
[00:06:18] your symptoms and gently rewiring them through somatic tools, repetition
[00:06:24] and experiential healing is so much more about what all of this is about.
[00:06:29] It's powerful, it's science-backed and it's something so few people are
[00:06:34] doing on their healing journeys because they're stuck chasing symptoms
[00:06:38] instead of looking under the hood.
[00:06:40] And so let me like share with you a little bit about what this actually looks like.
[00:06:45] A lot of it looks like meditation.
[00:06:47] A lot of it looks like going internal, closing your eyes.
[00:06:50] First of all, sitting with what's present.
[00:06:52] That might be some old emotions, present emotions, frustration, anger,
[00:06:57] trauma, whatever it is and helping your body, literally your body shift into
[00:07:05] a different state of being because when we're in the state of being
[00:07:08] of a stressed out nervous system, we're in low frequency and we can't
[00:07:12] heal from that state.
[00:07:13] We can't heal from a stuck nervous system.
[00:07:15] We need to heal from a different, literally state of being within your body.
[00:07:20] And this is the part that most people miss where also I think a lot
[00:07:24] of healing approaches fall short.
[00:07:26] It's not enough to change your thoughts.
[00:07:28] It's not enough to just change your beliefs.
[00:07:30] To truly heal, you have to change your state of being.
[00:07:34] And this is what many different people talk about specifically.
[00:07:38] Dr. Joe Dispenza, if you don't know who he is, he's a pioneer in this.
[00:07:43] So he actually healed himself using subconscious reprogramming in different
[00:07:48] states of being.
[00:07:49] He was in a bike accident and was told that he's going to be paralyzed
[00:07:52] from, I believe it was mid-backdown or waist down.
[00:07:55] And he checked himself out of the hospital and started reprogramming,
[00:08:00] meditating time after time.
[00:08:01] And I think it was, I don't remember exactly how long, but months of this.
[00:08:05] And now he's completely fine today.
[00:08:07] And so he teaches this and his whole thing is you can't create a new
[00:08:12] future from the same state of being, right?
[00:08:14] Exactly what I've been talking about.
[00:08:16] This was a huge light bulb moment for me.
[00:08:18] Like I've always known this.
[00:08:19] I even read his book like years ago, to be honest, but it just, it didn't
[00:08:23] click and I don't think I was ready for it.
[00:08:25] I needed to stay in the level of like, you know, retraining my brain a
[00:08:29] little bit and doing some things that kind of kept me at a, at a stable state.
[00:08:33] I was stable for a long time.
[00:08:35] This is where a lot of people stay, which is totally fine.
[00:08:37] Like I was okay.
[00:08:38] I was fine.
[00:08:38] I wasn't in bed.
[00:08:39] I wasn't having symptoms all the time, but still like not totally safe and
[00:08:43] not totally symptom-free.
[00:08:45] And I'm not saying that's what I'm trying to get to, but there's
[00:08:48] something a little deeper.
[00:08:49] And here's the thing, a lot of us are trying to heal from a place
[00:08:53] of fear, urgency, control, shame.
[00:08:57] We're stuck in the same emotional and chemical cocktail where we're in, when
[00:09:03] the symptoms started, the body is living in survival, even when we're
[00:09:07] doing all the right things.
[00:09:08] So you might be doing like I was doing, I was doing yoga, I was taking
[00:09:12] supplements, I was meditating and I was brain training and I was regulating
[00:09:15] my nervous system and like doing pretty good somewhat, but then I
[00:09:19] would definitely have these moments or times of like, like life would
[00:09:23] take over and my body would react.
[00:09:25] And I think part of that was because my internal state is it was
[00:09:28] still fear-based at a certain level.
[00:09:31] Like my body was still getting the message that I'm not safe.
[00:09:34] And when the body doesn't feel safe, it won't shift.
[00:09:37] So instead, what I'm teaching here and helping you understand is that if
[00:09:43] we can learn how to enter new states of being, we practice
[00:09:47] becoming the version of ourselves who feel safe, worthy, peaceful,
[00:09:52] resourced, even before the symptoms are gone.
[00:09:57] And it does not mean faking it, which might sound kind of weird,
[00:10:01] like obviously, right?
[00:10:02] But I get it.
[00:10:04] When you're in a high symptom state and you're brain foggy,
[00:10:07] you're fatigued, you're in pain, it's hard to feel safe.
[00:10:11] It's hard to feel something different than what your body's
[00:10:14] screaming at you, but this is where the work is.
[00:10:17] When you can anchor in on a cellular level and start to shift
[00:10:22] that from a heart-centered place, your body will follow, your
[00:10:26] symptoms will follow, your brain will follow.
[00:10:28] You start building emotional capacity so you can sit with
[00:10:31] the hard stuff without collapsing.
[00:10:34] You start feeling what it's actually like to feel to be
[00:10:38] healed and living from that place now.
[00:10:42] It's because your nervous system doesn't respond to goals.
[00:10:44] It responds to cues of safety and that safety comes from your
[00:10:48] state of being.
[00:10:50] This is why I'm really now passionate about this whole new
[00:10:54] level of healing because this is why I've been able to do some
[00:10:59] things I never really thought I could do where I crash for a
[00:11:03] day and I change my state of being to be fine the next day.
[00:11:08] And then furthermore, I don't actually have those crashes
[00:11:11] anymore because I'm truly changing my state of being out of
[00:11:16] that crash.
[00:11:18] And this is exactly what I talk about.
[00:11:21] This is exactly why I created the mind-body healing method
[00:11:23] because we don't just talk about the concepts.
[00:11:26] I don't just teach you, although I love teaching.
[00:11:28] Obviously, I have a podcast I'm talking to you.
[00:11:32] I'm pretty comfortable in this state, but the practice is
[00:11:35] actually what shifts the experiences of sitting with
[00:11:41] yourself with your eyes closed in your internal state,
[00:11:45] feeling the feelings that have been hard to be felt and
[00:11:50] learning how to accept them and shift into a new state of
[00:11:54] heart-centered love and compassionate state of being.
[00:11:57] This is the practice.
[00:11:59] This is the soul, the sauce, if you will.
[00:12:02] So yeah, it's not just if I think I'm healing, I'm
[00:12:06] thinking it, I'm changing my brain state, I'm using
[00:12:09] positive affirmations.
[00:12:11] It's not just that.
[00:12:12] It's I feel different, I am different, and my body is
[00:12:17] responding.
[00:12:18] I'm going to say that again, because that's, that's
[00:12:20] exactly this powerful.
[00:12:22] Subconscious reprogramming is not just about the
[00:12:25] subconscious of the mind.
[00:12:25] It's about your whole body.
[00:12:26] So you're reprogramming your body into a place of I
[00:12:30] feel different, I feel expansive, I feel safe, I am
[00:12:34] love, I am different.
[00:12:36] My body is responding from this place.
[00:12:39] And sometimes stuff comes up when we do this work, right?
[00:12:42] Sometimes tears come up, rage, old stories, memories,
[00:12:45] resistance, joy, love, anything like that.
[00:12:49] And this is all normal.
[00:12:50] This is healing, because when you shift the
[00:12:52] subconscious, the body starts to feel safe enough
[00:12:55] to feel again.
[00:12:57] That's why emotional safety is also non-negotiable
[00:13:00] and why I built it into every layer of the mind
[00:13:04] body healing method, because you need a space where
[00:13:06] your nervous system feels supported enough to let go
[00:13:09] of old survival strategies.
[00:13:11] Let me tell you, I highlighted this a little bit
[00:13:13] earlier, but I want to tell you the moment I realized
[00:13:17] what healing actually is, because there was a time
[00:13:20] where I was doing everything right, the protocols,
[00:13:23] the diet, the breath work, the supplements.
[00:13:25] And yes, the symptoms started to shift a
[00:13:27] little bit, you know, definitely got me to a
[00:13:29] place of like, okay, all right, I'm doing this.
[00:13:32] I'm okay.
[00:13:33] But flare ups definitely still happened a lot.
[00:13:35] The tightness in my chest that felt like it would
[00:13:37] never leave the fear when symptoms would come on.
[00:13:40] Like, oh my gosh, intense fear of what am I doing wrong?
[00:13:44] Why can't I heal?
[00:13:45] Why am I like not better?
[00:13:47] How am I supposed to teach and help people if
[00:13:48] I'm not better?
[00:13:50] All that.
[00:13:51] And I kept thinking, like, what am I missing?
[00:13:53] Why isn't this working?
[00:13:55] And one day, instead of trying to fight the
[00:13:57] symptom or push it away, I got curious.
[00:14:00] I dropped into my body.
[00:14:02] I softened.
[00:14:04] I started listening to states of being meditation that
[00:14:09] helped me create new states of being, new thoughts
[00:14:12] and new emotions.
[00:14:14] And I started doing this daily to help create
[00:14:17] safety inside of me instead of chasing it outside.
[00:14:20] And I started to change.
[00:14:22] I started to shift from fear and overwhelm and
[00:14:26] intense shutdown.
[00:14:28] My nervous system response is shut down, by the way,
[00:14:30] like it takes me out.
[00:14:32] And instead, I'm teaching my body, you don't need to
[00:14:35] shut down.
[00:14:36] I'm okay.
[00:14:36] I can shift.
[00:14:37] I can stay in this new frequency.
[00:14:40] I moved from fear to trust, from urgency to
[00:14:43] presence, from self-blame to compassion.
[00:14:47] Ooh, that is a big one.
[00:14:49] And my body responded.
[00:14:51] It is still responding.
[00:14:52] It's a process.
[00:14:53] It's an ever-evolving process.
[00:14:55] I am in no way, shape, or form perfect or
[00:14:57] completely healed.
[00:14:59] But I feel this like power within me, not because I
[00:15:04] found some magic supplement or magic protocol, but
[00:15:07] because I finally stopped sending it the
[00:15:09] signal that something was wrong.
[00:15:11] And that's when it clicked, is that healing
[00:15:14] isn't about controlling your body.
[00:15:17] It's about changing the internal state your
[00:15:20] body is responding to.
[00:15:22] And that kind of healing, it's sustainable.
[00:15:26] It doesn't come from force.
[00:15:29] It comes from safety, from a regulated nervous
[00:15:33] system, safety place, a soul level sense of
[00:15:37] trust, from reprogramming the beliefs that keep
[00:15:40] you stuck and survival.
[00:15:42] And when you shift your state, you shift your
[00:15:45] symptoms.
[00:15:46] Furthermore, you actually get to shift your life.
[00:15:50] I'm working on changing things in my life that
[00:15:52] I never thought were possible because I
[00:15:54] can do it from this new state of being.
[00:15:56] Your body finally feels like it's safe enough
[00:15:59] to heal.
[00:16:00] So what does that actually look like when I'm
[00:16:05] talking about all this?
[00:16:07] It looks like less resistance, more heart
[00:16:12] centered space, more rest, more peace in
[00:16:16] your body, even if symptoms do pop up.
[00:16:19] It means recognizing your spirals as old
[00:16:21] programming, not truth.
[00:16:24] And it means taking aligned action without
[00:16:27] pushing or burning out.
[00:16:29] It means feeling your emotions without drowning
[00:16:32] in them.
[00:16:33] It means being able to wake up from a state of
[00:16:36] presence and love instead of a state of fear
[00:16:39] or, oh my gosh, what's going to happen today?
[00:16:41] What symptom am I going to have?
[00:16:42] What am I going to be able to, you know, it
[00:16:45] takes you out of the fear response, the worry
[00:16:47] response of worrying so much about what's
[00:16:50] going to happen to your body or what kind of
[00:16:51] symptoms are going to pop up into a state of
[00:16:54] trust, trust in your body.
[00:16:56] Basically, it looks like becoming your own
[00:16:58] best healer, not your worst critic.
[00:17:01] And that is the foundation of lasting
[00:17:04] mind, body healing.
[00:17:05] So if you're listening to this or watching
[00:17:08] me, hi, and thinking, all right, I've
[00:17:12] never really gone there before, but it makes
[00:17:14] so much sense.
[00:17:15] Or you're like, hmm, curious, sounds
[00:17:19] cool, but also that sounds so far from what's
[00:17:21] possible, totally hear you.
[00:17:24] I get that.
[00:17:25] Believe me, I was there for a long time.
[00:17:27] Either way, you're in the right spot.
[00:17:30] And this is your invitation.
[00:17:31] So if you've been listening, you know that
[00:17:34] I've totally been revamping the mind, body
[00:17:37] healing method to really include a lot of
[00:17:39] this, to be honest, I will tell you, like
[00:17:41] the first round didn't have as much of this
[00:17:43] in there.
[00:17:44] This second round has a lot more of shifting
[00:17:46] our belief systems, shifting our state of
[00:17:48] being, using that to regulate our nervous
[00:17:51] system.
[00:17:51] And so in the mind, body healing method, new
[00:17:54] updated 2.0 isn't just about symptom relief.
[00:17:57] It's about real lasting change at the
[00:18:01] root.
[00:18:02] And in here, I teach you how to become
[00:18:04] aware of your nervous system, how to
[00:18:06] become aware of what's stopping you from
[00:18:08] truly being in a state of healing, teach
[00:18:11] you some skills to find safety in your
[00:18:13] body, help you get out of the patterns
[00:18:15] of fear out of the constant struggle that
[00:18:19] you might have on a day to day basis with
[00:18:21] your anxiety, with your pain, with your
[00:18:24] symptoms, work with your body instead of
[00:18:27] against it and heal some of the worst
[00:18:30] things that cause you constant anxiety
[00:18:33] on a day to day basis in a way that
[00:18:35] sustainable, not stressful.
[00:18:38] All of my tools are anywhere from
[00:18:40] science back to trauma informed and
[00:18:42] rooted, truly rooted in self compassion.
[00:18:45] And it's helped so many people, including
[00:18:46] myself, break free from the chronic
[00:18:49] fatigue, pain, migraines, icy gut issues,
[00:18:54] food sensitivities and all just to name
[00:18:56] a few and the intense shame loops they
[00:19:00] thought they were stuck in forever.
[00:19:01] So if this sounds interesting to you,
